The Green Bay Packers sent shockwaves through the NFL world last week when they traded two future first round picks and three-time Pro Bowl defensive tackle Kenny Clark to the Dallas Cowboys for three-time All-Pro linebacker Micah Parsons, who is considered to be one of the best defensive players in the entire NFL.
While Parsons had demanded a trade away from Dallas weeks ago, many viewed it as merely a negotiation tactic so that he could get a contract extension done faster. However, he refused to sign any offer the Cowboys made after talks between the two parties broke down, which led to Green Bay being able to swoop in, get a deal done, and ink the four-time Pro Bowler to a four-year $188 million contract extension.
Parsons is now the highest paid non-quarterback in NFL history, and the Packers are poised to have one of the best defenses in the league.
Of course, there is now a great deal of buzz surrounding the Packers and their newest star player. Coaches and other NFL stars around the league have been giving their reactions to the trade since it happened, but perhaps none are more publicized than those from Parsons’ former Cowboys teammates.
One of those is from All-Pro wide receiver CeeDee Lamb, who is happy his former teammate got the contract he was looking for, but fears facing him and Green Bay when the two teams meet in Week Four.
“Obviously wishing him the best,” Lamb said of Parsons. “I hope he has the best season ever. He’s Micah Parsons, he’s unblockable. He’s unstoppable.”
And when asked what it will be like when Parsons and the Packers visit Dallas in Week Four, Lamb said, “The worst. It’s gonna be weird. It’s gonna be conflicting. I hope he is not in the backfield in two seconds.”
Lamb has good reason to be concerned. Parsons is one of just two players in NFL history to record 12.0+ sacks in each of his first four seasons in the league. Packers legend and Pro Football Hall of Famer Reggie White is the other.
Furthermore, Dallas’ offensive line is comprised of second-year players and a rookie (except for right tackle Terence Steele, who is entering his sixth season). Parsons has the ability to exploit their inexperience and weaknesses, as well as create opportunities for his fellow pass rushers like Rashan Gary and Lukas Van Ness.
