Haason Reddick Generating Interest

Reddick, whom the Cardinals drafted 17th overall out of Temple in 2017, broke out as one of the game’s fiercest pass rushers in the fourth year of his career. Beginning in 2020, his last season in Arizona, he put together a four-year, 66-game stretch in which he amassed 83 quarterback hits, 51 tackles for loss, 50.5 sacks and 13 forced fumbles. Reddick spent 2021 in Carolina and 2022-23 in Philadelphia, where he earned two Pro Bowl nods and a second-team All-Pro selection.

Although Reddick was a force as an Eagle, they set the wheels in motion on a divorce when they allowed him to seek a trade in February 2024. A month and a half later, the Eagles shipped Reddick to the Jets for a conditional third-round pick in 2026.

Reddick, who wanted a raise over his $14.25MM salary and a long-term extension, then engaged in a months-long contract standoff with the Jets. It surprisingly dragged well into the regular season and caused Reddick to miss the Jets’ first seven games. Reddick’s former agency dropped him during the process, leading him to hire Drew Rosenhaus and Ryan Mantha as his new representatives. Finally, after a 2-5 start in which the Jets fired head coach Robert Saleh, they and Reddick agreed to an adjusted deal in late October.

The aggravation the Jets went through with Reddick may have been worth it had he performed like his 2000-23 self and helped lead a second-half turnaround. Instead, though, he totaled just 14 tackles, three QB hits, two TFL and a sack in 10 games. The Jets went 3-7 with Reddick, finished 5-12 and then watched him walk away in free agency a couple months later.

Despite his forgettable season with the Jets, the Buccaneers guaranteed Reddick $12MM on a pact worth up to $14MM in 2025. Once again, however, he produced unspectacular results. Knee and ankle injuries limited Reddick, who played 13 games and 12 starts. Over 570 defensive snaps, he tallied 31 tackles, six QB hits, six TFL and 2.5 sacks. Reddick ended the year as Pro Football Focus’ 95th-ranked edge defender among 119 qualifiers.

The Bucs, who stumbled to an 8-9 record and missed the playoffs, have not made any reported efforts to re-sign Reddick. The 6-foot-1, 240-pound could sign elsewhere soon and play a 10th NFL season, but the value of his next contract should fall well short of his previous deal.
