Hackett Could Leave Miami for Arizona OC Job
Here today, gone tomorrow.
That may be the case for new Miami Dolphins quarterbacks coach Nathaniel Hackett.
Reports indicate that the Arizona Cardinals and new head coach Mike LaFleur are considering Hackett for the role of offensive coordinator.
If Hackett leaves Miami after only a week or so, it would force Jeff Hafley to go out and find another quarterbacks coach for his staff.
Sources view Nathaniel Hackett as being among the early possibilities for the #Cardinals offensive coordinator job.

Hackett spent 2025 analyzing defense and statistics for the Green Bay Packers and worked with Hafley.
Hackett is infamous for his struggles as the Denver Broncos head coach in 2022, but is well-regarded for his time in Green Bay as the offensive coordinator in 2021.
With new staff comes new faces, and Hackett is the most recent addition. Darrell Bevell was highly regarded within the Dolphins’ organization, but Hackett is familiar with Hafley. They both worked on the Packers’ defense this past season.
As a head coach, Hackett was 4-11 and heavily struggled with clock management. He was unfortunately not ready to call plays and manage situations in 2022. The Broncos fired him after an embarrassing loss on Christmas Day, losing 51-14 to the Rams.
He showed steady improvement as a playcaller in 2023 with the New York Jets under coach Robert Saleh. After Saleh was fired in 2024, Hackett had his play-calling duties revoked, ending his tenure as the team’s play-caller.
Hackett spent the 2015 and 2016 seasons serving as a quarterbacks coach for the Jacksonville Jaguars. He was given praise during the Jaguars’ deep playoff run with Blake Bortles. It was his only stint as a position coach in the NFL before this job with the Dolphins.
Hackett was also a quarterbacks coach and offensive coordinator at Syracuse from 2010 to 2012.
Now, Hackett will help develop a potential rookie quarterback in Miami. His hands are full already with Quinn Ewers. There are rumors that the Dolphins will sign pending free agent Malik Willis, and if he comes to South Florida, he will have another familiar face in the building.
