HBO reels in monster catch with another AFC East 'Hard Knocks' selection

NFL fans got their wish over the summer when HBO struck gold and landed the New York Jets as their featured team on the training camp edition of "Hard Knocks."

The reality series reeled in another big fish for this year's in-season part of the program.

The Miami Dolphins are a great choice for the upcoming third edition of the in-season show.

The Dolphins are a team on the rise, having made the playoffs for the first time in six years during the 2022 campaign. Their postseason run was short-lived, falling in the AFC wild-card round to the Buffalo Bills, but they look determined to make the tournament again in 2023 as they lead the competitive AFC East at 5-2.

Behind the innovative mind of head coach Mike McDaniel, Miami is the highest-scoring team in the league with a whopping 240 points through seven games. They had the most eye-catching offensive performance of the campaign thus far when they walloped the Denver Broncos 70-20 in Week 3.

Not only is McDaniel one of the most creative play-callers in the sport, but his charisma and quirkiness should work wonders for show producers. He's arguably the most quotable coach in the NFL.

The Dolphins have a pair of MVP contenders in quarterback Tua Tagovailoa and wide receiver Tyreek Hill, the latter of whom is threatening to shatter multiple pass-catching records this season. The Miami offense has perhaps the most dynamic supporting cast as well with the likes of wideout Jaylen Waddle and running back Raheem Mostert.

The pending returns of a notable trio of injured players could make the upcoming "Hard Knocks" in-season version a must-watch as well.

On offense, electric rookie running back De'Von Achane is expected to miss at least two more games but should be back for the stretch run. On defense, a pair of Pro Bowlers in the secondary in cornerbacks Jalen Ramsey and Xavien Howard are expected back in the near future too.

Once Ramsey takes the field for the Dolphins, it won't only be his season debut but his first game with Miami as well.
