Heart attack horses strike again as Broncos pull off some fourth-quarter magic to take down Texans

It wasn't pretty, but the Denver Broncos walked out of Houston with a victory thanks to yet another fourth-quarter performance by quarterback Bo Nix and the offense. The defense deserves its flowers as well, only allowing 15 points all game.

The first half was one to forget for the Broncos, especially the first quarter. It was yet another slow start from the team, with Nix not being able to find anyone and losing the time of possession by nearly 10 minutes. Still, Denver kept it close even from the early stages.

Counting Sunday's showing in Houston, Denver's early-game struggles continue. Outside of 27 points in the first half against the Cowboys , Denver has only had seven total points in the first half between the win against the New York Giants and the Texans.

Broncos make history in the victory

41-year-old tight end Marcedes Lewis suited up and saw the field, making him the oldest tight end in NFL history to do so and the oldest Bronco to ever play in a game. He's the 23rd player all time to play 20 NFL seasons, an amazing accomplishment for the veteran tight end.

Lewis had a key block early in the contest to allow running back J.K. Dobbins to break the edge for a decent gain. A smart pickup by head coach Sean Payton just days before the matchup.

RJ Harvey finds the end zone yet again

Broncos running back RJ Harvey just keeps finding the end zone, and it's not just from rushing in touchdowns. Harvey caught a passing touchdown from what looked like a wheel route, where Nix found him wide open.

With his touchdown, in just nine weeks, Harvey has the most touchdown catches ever by a Broncos rookie running back. The talented running back finished his day with only three carries for eight yards while adding four receptions for 48 yards and a touchdown. He led the team in both receptions and yards in the win.

Defense came to play; Nix didn't look sharp throughout

Tell me if you've heard this before, Denver is really good at sacking the quarterback. Entering Week 9, Denver not only had the most sacks but also allowed the fewest sacks in the league. The Texans were able to bring down Nix once in the matchup, while five different players on defense recorded at least half a sack for the Broncos, totaling four on the day.

Linebacker Dre Greenlaw, defensive end Zach Allen, and edge Jonathon Cooper all registered one sack, with defensive tackle Malcolm Roach and linebacker Dondrea Tillman both accounting for half a sack each.

Nix did what was needed to help secure the victory. He scampered down the field for a huge gain, which set the team up in field goal range. Throughout the game, Nix was taking shots downfield, trying to get something going. Heading into the contest, the Broncos led the league in completions, attempts, and yards on screen passes.

Nix finished his day going 17-for-36 with 170 yards and two touchdowns with one interception while adding three carries for 36 yards as a runner.

The Broncos didn't dominate from start to finish, but they once again showed resilience when it mattered most. Between a defense that continues to wreak havoc and a second-year quarterback who keeps finding ways to win, Denver heads home with momentum and plenty to clean up.
