Here are the odds Josh Jacobs leads NFL in rushing yards in 2023

The Las Vegas Raiders got some very good news over the weekend, as star running back and 2022 rushing yards leader Josh Jacobs agreed to a reworked contract and is on track to start for the AFC West squad in Week 1.

Jacobs topped the league when he posted 1,653 rushing yards in 2022, averaging 4.9 yards per carry while also scoring 12 touchdowns. With the 2023 season set to kick off in just a couple of weeks, the Raiders are banking on the four-year veteran to have another colossal season.

Of course, with fantasy football drafts taking place at the end of August, there are a lot of fantasy managers wondering if Jacobs can repeat that success and should be in their lineup.

Experts and fans alike have spent the last few months giving their two cents as to whether Jacobs can lead the NFL in rushing yards yet again. But what do oddsmakers think his chances are of topping the league yet again?

Despite posting the best numbers of his career in 2022, DraftKings has Jacobs listed as a 15-1 long shot to lead the league in rushing yards in 2023. And they aren't alone in thinking Jacobs' numbers will dip.

"History is not friendly to backs used at his level," NFL.com writer Matt Okada said at the beginning of August. "Simply put, it is not easy to maintain health and productivity at these extreme workloads ... even when you are under contract."

So who does DK think has the better chance of topping the league than Jacobs?

Cleveland Browns back Nick Chubb, who has been a top-three rusher the last few seasons, is the current 9-2 favorite to lead the NFL in rushing yards this season. He is followed closely by Derrick Henry (13-2) which isn't surprising since the Titans star was the NFL's top rusher in 2019 and 2020.

Jonathan Taylor, who is the subject of trade talks ahead of Week 1, is listed at 8-1 odds. In a surprise twist, Atlanta Falcons rookie Bijan Robinson is also favored over Jacobs to lead the league this season. He is listed at 10-1 odds.

You can see all these players and more when Week 1 fully gets underway on Sunday, Sept. 10.
