Detroit Lions safety Morice Norris is now in the hospital following a collision during the team's preseason game against the Atlanta Falcons on Friday. In his postgame presser, head coach Dan Campbell provided more details about his player's condition.
Norris had to be taken off the field through an ambulance after he took a knee to the head at the start of the fourth quarter of the game.
While Norris was trying to tackle Nathan Carter, he dipped too low and ended up getting hit by the Falcons running back's lower body. An alternate angle of the play showed Norris' head snapping back as a result of the hit.
His fall only made things worse, as his head shook as he crashed onto the field. He was quickly attended to by medical personnel before being taken off the field.
Players from both teams gathered around in support of Norris. They also let the clock run out before it was officially suspended.
In his postgame press conference, Campbell was naturally asked about Norris' condition. The Lions head coach repeated the team's update that the 24-year-old safety had been taken to a local hospital for further evaluation.
In a bit of good news, though, Campbell stated that Norris is "breathing" and showing movements.
"He's at the hospital and I'll have to just leave it at that," Campbell stated. "But obviously you know, something like that happens, it puts things in perspective, so we're just praying for Morice, everybody prays for him, you know."
He added, when further asked about Norris' condition: "He's breathing, he's talking, that's good. He's got some movement, and now they're running more tests."

Falcons head coach Raheem Morris also addressed Norris' injury during an interview after the game. He revealed that he and Campbell agreed to let the clock run out without playing, adding that he's not thinking about how the NFL would react to it.
"I don't know," Morris said when asked if he's worried the league would be upset by their decision, per Falcons reporter Terrin Waack.
"It's not in my thoughts right now. My thoughts are about Morice Norris and his family. That's all."
More updates about Norris' injury should be available in the next few hours and days as the Lions monitor his condition.
