'He's Got To Relax': Packers Teammate Makes Jordan Love Request After Week 2 Win

Quarterback Jordan Love was great in the Green Bay Packers' "Thursday Night Football" win over the Washington Commanders.

He completed 19-of-31 passes for 292 yards, two touchdowns and zero interceptions. However, one of his most impressive plays of the night came while running the ball.

In the red zone on a third-and-nine play, Love scrambled out to his right, rushing for 14 yards and picking up the first down. In the process of doing so, he ran over Commanders' cornerback Trey Amos.

It was something rarely seen from today's generation of NFL quarterbacks. Packers safety Evan Williams made a Friday appearance on "The Up & Adams Show," where he jokingly pleaded with Love to avoid that kind of run again.

“Man, he’s got to relax... I be scared whenever he’s tucking that ball running down field," Williams said.

However, he couldn't help but also admit it was an exciting moment, telling Adams, "You see your captain obviously do something like that... It's electric for the team."

The very next play, Love delivered a five-yard touchdown pass to Romeo Doubs, giving the Packers an early 7-0 lead and capping off an impressive 96-yard drive.

The Packers Can't Afford to Lose Jordan Love

Williams may have been joking when telling Love to calm down, but there's certainly some truth to what he's saying.

After signing his four-year $220 million extension, he earned the largest contract in Packers history and is showing why he deserved that money.

However, he's also not a player who's immune to injury, missing two games last season from an MCL injury and underwent a procedure for a ligament in his left thumb this offseason.

The Packers are establishing themselves as true Super Bowl contenders, but a major injury to Love could easily derail that.

It may have been a moment that fired up the crowd and his teammates, but unnecessary risks such as that run should be avoided at all costs.
