The Houston Texans are reportedly being extra cautious with C.J. Stroud heading into his third year in the National Football League.
According to several reports, the 2023 Rookie of the Year was on the field for Tuesday's OTA practice but continues not to participate in the throwing portion of the team's session.
Stroud has yet to throw during Houston's organized team activities, something head coach DeMeco Ryans addressed while speaking to the media this morning.
"There's no concerns with C.J.," Ryans said, via Adam Schefter of ESPN. "It's just general soreness. We're taking extra precaution with him, but he'll be good to go. No concerns on my end there."
This isn't the first time the Texans have downplayed Stroud's lack of participation in throwing drills. Last week, new offensive coordinator Nick Caley shared that he doesn't have any concerns with C.J.'s injury going into the summer.
"Yeah, he's locked in every step of the way," Caley said Friday. "No concerns whatsoever. I know DeMeco has already hit on this. Everybody has a specific routine relative to their own routine, specific to whatever. Whether it's football, whether it's athletic training, etc., he's doing a great job and he's out here and he's working."
After an unbelievable rookie season, Stroud's numbers took a bit of a step back in Year 2. But confidence hasn't wavered in his ability to make the Texans a winning franchise following back-to-back playoff seasons.
Hopefully this shoulder issue isn't anything to worry about for C.J. However, it's certainly noteworthy that it's kept him out of some throwing reps thus far this offseason.
