The Los Angeles Rams will face the Seattle Seahawks on Sunday at SoFi Stadium. Both teams are 7-2, with the Rams 2nd in the NFC West and the Seahawks 1st.
LA is fresh off a dominating win against the San Francisco 49ers last Sunday, where they defeated them 42-26. LA will have its work cut out for it, though, as Seattle’s been climbing the ranks as one of the best in the NFC and the league overall.
With the Rams preparing for their division rival, they got some recent injury news that may affect the offense.
In the game against the 49ers in Week 10, Rams’ wide receiver Devante Adams sustained an oblique injury. The play in which it happened was that Adams was working a release, grabbed his back, and came out of the game. It was originally described as a back injury, but later on it was stated that it was Adams’ oblique that he injured.

It was reported by Stu Jackson of the official Rams team site on November 12th that head coach Sean McVay spoke about Adams and his injury, saying that, “He’s making good progress.” It was also reported by Jackson that McVay said that Adams participated in the Wednesday walk-through before practice and that McVay went on to say that, “That’s what he tells me. He’s feeling good, and so I trust the man. He’ll be ready.”
Adams is listed on the injury report, and it states that he did not practice on Wednesday (only did walkthroughs), was a limited participant on Thursday and Friday. He is currently listed as questionable.
Adams has played a big role in the Rams’ offense, especially being upgraded to the #1 when Puka Nacua was out with an injury. Adams may be in the later years of his career, but he can still play at a high level and is one of the best route runners in today’s NFL and ever.
He had a big game against the Jacksonville Jaguars in Week 7, where he caught 5 passes for 35 yards and 3 touchdowns. That just goes to show that when Adams gets the ball, he makes plays.
Regarding the effect his injury may have on the offense, if he plays Sunday, then the offense will continue to operate normally, and he’ll get a considerable amount of targets, but Puka will get the lion’s share.
When Adams is in the game, it can create matchup problems for opposing defenses because they have to deal with both Adams and Nacua, but if he doesn’t play this week, Seattle’s defense can key on Nacua more and make it difficult for quarterback Matthew Stafford. The play-action will still be a factor, and Stafford can adapt and distribute the ball at a high rate.
Most would agree that they’d want Adams to play if he’s healthy and can go, but if he can’t, the Rams are a great enough team to adjust, and offensively, things will be afloat.
