What a night the Detroit Lions' defensive line had on Monday against the Baltimore Ravens. 34 pressures and seven sacks. That's no joke and was one of the best performances a Lions defensive line has put on in quite some time. As we move into Week 4 and the Lions take on the Cleveland Browns, Brad Holmes has to be feeling vindicated with his choice not to sell out for a big edge rusher via trade or high in the draft. This Browns offensive line could be making sure that vindication continues.

Last week, I noted that the Lions could have a good day against the Ravens due to their struggles with pass protection. I certainly didn't think they'd do what they wound up doing, though. This week, the Lions face the 32nd-ranked pass-protecting offensive line. Joe Flacco might have a bad day in this one.
He's already been having some bad days behind this line, and with the injury to left tackle Dewand Jones last week, things could be getting worse. The Browns have allowed 60 pressures in the first three games. Surprisingly, that has only turned into six sacks. Which tells me Flacco's whole thing is to get the ball out fast, regardless of whether it winds up in the right hands or not. Which is fine because it means he's making an erratic decision or getting moved off his spot. He's already thrown four interceptions in three games and just two touchdowns.
The good news is that Joe Flacco is not Lamar Jackson. You don't have to worry about the defensive line working to try to track him down. If they can get back there before the check down, they're likely to get him. If coverage holds up like it did on Monday, the deep ball is gone for Cleveland, and the Lions could be Flacco's face all day long. We'll see how it goes soon enough.
