Heading into the lead-up to the Philadelphia Eagles and Minnesota Vikings' Week 7 showdown, there was a ton of talk about general manager Howie Roseman letting cornerback Isaiah Rodgers sign with the Vikings in the offseason.

It started with the poor play of Adoree' Jackson and Kelee Ringo throughout the season at cornerback for the Eagles. Before the game, there was a report that came out that the Eagles were going to make an offer to Rodgers, but could not reach him. Rodgers made it clear on social media that the report was false.

Even though Rodgers did not want to call this game a "revenge game" due to his love for the team, there was still a sense that he wanted to play well against his old team. The polar opposite happened. He had his worst game of the season.

Rodgers got exposed in a horrible way against the Eagles

During the game, there were two big pass plays that Rodgers allowed in the Eagles' 28-22 win over the Vikings in Week 7. He was covering DeVonta Smith on the 79-yard touchdown in the third quarter. Rodgers also allowed a 45-yard completion on A.J. Brown late in the game that sealed Minnesota's fate.

After the game, Smith defended his former teammate on the 79-yard score as he said he saw the same coverage on that formation throughout the first half. Smith didn't blame Rodgers, explaining that Rodgers was doing what he was told.

Rodgers did not feel the same way as he took the blame for the two big plays that cost the Vikings the game.

"I put it on me. I put the whole team on my back. I just got to make those plays, and I came here for a reason, and those type of plays I know I can make. So I put it on me."

How bad a game was it for Rodgers? He allowed five receptions on seven targets for 151 yards and a touchdown. That's an average of 30.1 yards per reception and three first downs. Smith had 100 of those 151 yards.

It appears as though the Eagles got the best of Rodgers in this matchup. While some believe Roseman made a mistake at cornerback, they can mark off Rodgers from the list of cornerbacks they should have kept.
