Howie Roseman pulls off another move to keep Eagles' Super Bowl roster alive

Philadelphia Eagles general manager Howie Roseman is a genius when it comes to getting exactly what he wants.

And he did just that this week, keeping veteran tight end Dallas Goedert in Philly by signing him to a cheaper deal.

According to ESPN's Field Yates, Goedert agreed to a new contract that is worth $4 million less than his original contract, pending incentives.

"Dallas Goedert was due $14M in cash from the Eagles prior to the renegotiated deal. His new deal is for $10M cash, with the chance to earn $1M more via incentives," Yates reported on X/Twitter.

The move keeps Eagles 10 of 11 offensive players from the Eagles' Super Bowl LIX winning roster intact, with the only big change expected at right guard following the loss of Mekhi Becton in NFL free agency.

QB: Jalen Hurts
RB: Saquon Barkley
TE: Dallas Goedert
WR: A.J. Brown
WR: DeVonta Smith
WR: Jahan Dotson
LT: Jordan Mailata
LG: Landon Dickerson
C: Cam Jurgens
RG: Tyler Steen
RT: Lane Johnson

Ahead of the 2025 NFL Draft, the Eagles were reportedly looking to trade Goedert for a fourth-round pick, but never found a team willing to do that.

They then missed on selecting a tight end in the draft, which further pointed to their ultimate decision to keep Goedert.

Goedert, 30, finished the 2024 season hauling 42 catches for 496 yards and two touchdowns through 10 games. He’s been dependable when he is healthy, though injuries have kept him off the field for 15 games since 2022, including 10 over the last two seasons. Even so, he’s still someone the Eagles should want to keep around, especially since there is no clear backup plan outside of Grant Calaterra.

The Eagles initially drafted Goedert in the second round of the 2024 NFL draft. He has started 76 games, racking up 349 catches, 4,085 yards, and 24 touchdowns in seven seasons with the Birds.
