Howie Roseman tried to author one of the wildest trades ever but Eagles’ offer was immediately shut down

If there's anyone who knows how to work the phones and get exactly what they want it's Philadelphia Eagles general manger Howie Roseman.

However, not this time.

According to ESPN's Adam Schefter, Roseman and the Eagles attempted to trade with the Dallas Cowboys for star edge rusher Micah Parsons, but Jerry Jones shut them down.

"One team that made a strong play this summer to try to trade for All-Pro linebacker Micah Parsons was none other than the Philadelphia Eagles, per league sources," Schefter wrote on X/Twitter. "The Eagles called the Cowboys to see if they could acquire Parsons and bring him back to Pennsylvania. But the Cowboys had no interest in trading Parsons in the division, especially to the defending Super-Bowl champion Eagles, whom they open with tonight."

Parsons ultimately landed with the Green Bay Packers.

In a blockbuster move, the Packers traded Pro Bowl defensive tackle Kenny Clark along with first-round picks in the 2026 and 2027 Draft to the Cowboys in exchange for Parsons. Green Bay then finalized the deal by signing Parsons to a four-year, $188 million extension, making him the richest non-quarterback in NFL history.

While it's certainly disappointing that Roseman wasn't able to finalize a deal to bring Parsons to Philadelphia, there's a silver lining for Eagles fans as they won't have to worry about seeing the All-Pro linebacker twice during the regular season anymore.

All eyes will be on how Dallas adapts without their defensive superstar, especially as they prepare to face off against Saquon Barkley and the Eagles' powerful run game. The first test comes tonight at 8:20 p.m. ET, when these two division rivals clash for Thursday Night Football.
