Travis Kelce’s got the ring for Taylor Swift, but the Chiefs’ season opener? That didn’t sparkle at all.
Kansas City dropped a 27-21 shocker to the Chargers in São Paulo, and Gilbert Arenas wasn’t about to let Kelce slide. The ex-NBA star fired off a video on Threads, clowning the tight end for looking flat.
“Mahomes’ top two receivers are still on vacation. That means it’s Mr. Swifty that has to come to play today,” Arenas said. Then he twisted the knife: “Like his fiancée once said, ‘You know how much I hate that everybody just expects me to bounce back, just like that.’ Oh yeah, bounce back from that horrible non-existing performance you did in Brazil.”
And if that wasn’t enough, Kelce got smacked in the face by Chargers tackle Teair Tart. Sure, it drew a 15-yard flag, but the clip went viral anyway.
Next up? Philly. And the Eagles aren’t exactly the team you want when you’re looking for a rebound game.
Football aside, Travis Kelce’s still on a high from popping the question. In a Fox Sports sit-down, he admitted nerves got the best of him during his proposal to Taylor Swift.
“The palms were definitely sweating,” Kelce said in the teaser clip posted to X. “I’m an emotional guy, so there were a few tears here and there. But it’s been an exciting ride up to this day, and I can’t wait to spend the rest of my life with her.”
He and Swift broke the news on August 26 with a tongue-in-cheek post: “Your English teacher and your gym teacher are getting married.”
