There have been many ups and downs for the New England Patriots this season. But throughout it all, one player has remained dependable.
And that is punter Bryce Baringer.
However, in Sunday's loss to the Tennessee Titans, Baringer had some rough punts, one of which only went for 15 yards.
On Wednesday, A to Z Sports spoke with the second-year star about his struggles in the last game, and he gave a very honest assessment.
"Yeah, I was disappointed," he stated. "Obviously, I expect myself, if I have a bad one, to come back on the next one, and I normally hit a good one. But obviously I was disappointed in it."
But for anyone wondering, a punt is not as simple as one might think.
"Yeah, there's a lot that goes into it," he explained. "A lot of fundamental work with my hands, where I drop the ball, and then a lot of it is also just contact."
However, he was able to find one positive in his performance, and that was in his final punt.
"But I was proud of myself for the last one. Kind of in a crunch time situation, need a good one," Baringer said. "And then a heck of a play by (Marcellas) Dial, Dell (Pettus), and Joe (Cardona). That ball was out. We could have gotten the ball right there and potentially won the game there too, or at least tied it.
Baringer has been one of the most reliable players on the team, and one bad game won't change that. Nobody is perfect all the time.
"Moving forward I'm just focused on the next game and how I can refine my process and do better next week," he stated. "So refine some stuff and move on."
He knows what he's capable of, and everyone has seen it despite only being in the league for such a short time.
"I know I'm a good player. I just got to be able to perform."
