Ian Rapoport’s Myles Garrett injury update brings ‘optimism’

The Los Angeles Rams have not had the season they wanted, and outside of being 3-4, they’ve dealt with so many injuries to some of their key players. One of those players happened to be Myles Garrett, who hasn’t played since Week 1 against the San Francisco 49ers after being put on injured reserve to address a knee injury.

The good news is that he should be returning to practice soon, and it may be as fast as this week, according to Ian Rapoport of NFL Network.

“There is optimism that Myles Garrett returns to practice this week. I know there was optimism last week, and much more this week. He should practice and should be on the field playing relatively quickly,” Rapoport wrote on X, formerly Twitter.

If Garrett can find a way to get back on the field as early as next week, the Rams might be in good shape for the rest of the season. There’s no doubt that they’ve missed his presence on defense, and they haven’t been able to get as much pressure on the quarterback as they want. Insert Garrett back into the lineup, and a lot of things can change.

It’s a reason why the Rams moved off most of their assets to acquire Garrett during the offseason, and the hope is that he can show it was still worth it when he suits up again.

The Rams have a matchup against the Los Angeles Chargers this week, who have yet to win a game this season. If they can take care of business there, sitting at 4-4 doesn’t sound too bad. As the season goes on, they’ll keep getting some of their key players healthy, which will also be good for them.

After this week, all eyes will be on Garrett to see if he returns to the field.
