In-Depth Miami Injury Update

Injuries in the NFL are the cost of doing business. Finding a way through is crucial for any team’s success. The Miami Dolphins have been working to find ways to fill the injury holes in their offensive line.

Kadyn Proctor’s availability remains one of Miami’s central questions heading into the Detroit game. The rookie left guard was still in concussion protocol Monday, according to coach Jeff Hafley, after missing the Dolphins’ loss to New England. Progress has been reported, but clearance and a return to the lineup have not been established.

Concussion Protocol

Hafley’s update, reported by the South Florida Sun Sentinel’s David Furones and republished by Yahoo Sports, gives Miami a planning problem rather than a confirmed absence for another game. The Dolphins must prepare their blocking combinations while allowing the medical process to determine Proctor’s availability. Monday’s status should not be converted into a final Sunday designation.

Jarrett Kingston started at left guard against the Patriots. Furones reported that Hafley liked Kingston’s physicality and assignments after an uneven beginning, including an early false start. That supplies context for the replacement plan if Proctor remains unavailable; it does not establish that Kingston will start against Detroit.

The projected effect is straightforward: another absence would require Miami to continue working without its usual left guard. Protection communication and continuity become important questions, but neither a return nor an absence guarantees a particular offensive result. Practice participation and confirmed clearance will be more informative than an early-week label on a third-party depth chart.

JuJu Brents’ situation provides a useful contrast. Furones reported that the cornerback cleared concussion protocol in time to play against New England and recovered a fumble. Brents discussed that clearance Monday. His return is a verified development from the previous game, not evidence that Proctor will follow the same recovery timetable.

Miami also has possible reinforcements on its reserve lists. Barry Jackson’s Miami Herald report, carried by Yahoo Sports, said Darrell Baker Jr. remained on the physically unable to perform list, while Ronnie Harrison Jr. and Trey Moore remained on injured reserve. Hafley identified Baker as having the best chance of that group to return to practice this week.

The Moore outlook was less immediate. Jackson reported that Hafley did not expect the linebacker back this week or next, while remaining hopeful about a return later in the season. Baker’s possible practice return and Moore’s longer outlook should therefore be covered separately; neither amounts to an announced activation for the Lions game. Moore’s recovery outlook and Malik Herring’s status remain follow-up items. ESPN’s injury listing described his neck injury as a questionable-to-return update from the Patriots game. That wording concerns Sunday’s in-game status and should not be republished as a new Detroit-game designation.
