The Indianapolis Colts will not be taking part in the NFL playoffs this season. The Colts, who got off to a hot start behind Daniel Jones’ strong campaign, faltered in the second half of the campaign. They lost seven out of their last eight games, which was compounded by Jones’ season-ending Achilles injury in Week 14. Indianapolis ended the season with an 8-9 record and will miss the playoffs for the fifth straight year.

On Thursday, the team shared some tragic news. The Colts announced the passing of former fullback Randy McMillan, who passed away on Wednesday. He was 67.

McMillan played six years in the NFL, all of them with the Colts. He suited up for the Colts from 1981 to 1986, playing 88 games (he started 87). During that stretch, the former Pittsburgh Panthers star registered 990 carries for 3,876 yards and 24 rushing touchdowns, leading the team in rushing for three seasons. McMillan, the No. 12 overall pick of the 1981 NFL Draft, also logged 164 catches for 1,356 yards and two receiving TDs.

The Colts took to social media on Thursday to announce the death of their former FB. The cause of death was not revealed.

“we are saddened to hear of the passing of former RB Randy McMillan,” the Colts posted on X.

McMillan’s decorated career was cut short by an unfortunate turn of events in he spring of 1987. He suffered a major leg injury after getting hit by a car, resulting in his unexpected retirement at the age of 28.

Our thoughts and prayers go out to his family and loved ones during this time.
