The Indianapolis Colts were back at Grand Park in Westfield, Indiana, on Saturday for day 11 of training camp. The biggest story was that Quarterback Anthony Richardson Sr. was back on the practice field Saturday after dislocating his pinky in the team’s first preseason game. It was a good sign seeing rookie Defensive Tackle J.T. Tuimoloau, who suffered a knee injury in the game against the Ravens as well. Let’s dive into the other big news from day 11 of training camp.
The best news coming from Grand Park on Saturday was seeing Richardson Sr. on the field just one day after dislocating his pinky finger. It was nice to see him throwing the football with some zip and velocity on his throws, from what I saw.
It was also nice seeing Tuimoloau making plays after tweaking his knee in his first game as an NFL player. He had a great showing on Thursday with two solo tackles, along with a sack. It was an encouraging sign for the rotation of the defensive line. The bad news of the week was seeing rookie Cornerback Justin Walley being placed on injured reserve. Walley was in line to be the second outside starter at the corner position, given how great he was looking in camp.
The practice itself on Saturday was still encouraging to say the least. Daniel Jones had the better day at the quarterback position. Second-year Wideout AD Mitchell is continuing to impress since the pads have come on, making play after play in training camp. Rookie Tight End Tyler Warren had a toe-tapping TD in practice on Saturday as he continues to show why he was the team’s first round selection in the draft.
The Colts will look to shore up the cornerback room with Jaylon Jones and JuJu Brent, who are still dealing with injuries. I wouldn’t be surprised if they sign another corner. The Colts have practice today at 4 PM. Stay tuned to Total Apex Sports for my day 12 takeaways.
