Injured Kansas City Chiefs DL Charles Omenihu travels with the team to Las Vegas for Super Bowl LVIII
USA TODAY Sports

The Kansas City Chiefs might be without DL Charles Omenihu during Super Bowl LVIII  due to an ACL injury, but they won't be without him during the week leading up to the big game.

Omenihu suffered his injury in the AFC Championship Game win over the Baltimore Ravens. In the wake of that game, Omenihu  insisted he was going to play in the Super Bowl, only to later find out that he had suffered a significant knee injury. He was heartbroken that he was unable to play against the San Francisco 49ers, who he played for during the 2022 NFL season.

While Omenihu might not be suited up to play on the gridiron, he will be able to help his teammates in meetings and throughout the week leading up to Super Bowl LVIII. Omeihu took to Instagram on Sunday to let everyone know that he had arrived in Las Vegas, Nevada with the team.

His caption: "Regardless, I'm blessed."

The reason this news is significant is because this type of thing doesn't typically happen when a player suffers a major injury in Kansas City. They'll rarely travel with a team for away games. That's especially the case if they've been placed on injured reserve. Sometimes they don't even get to go out on the practice field and watch their teammates at practice.

Omenihu hasn't yet been placed on injured reserve, which is probably one of the reasons he was allowed to join the team for their travel to Vegas this week. We do anticipate that Omenihu will be placed on injured reserve ahead of the Super Bowl. You can learn more about that below.
