Inside Week 17 numbers: Ravens set high, Panthers set low

Using Stathead from Pro Football Reference, Yardbarker shines a spotlight on key names and numbers from Sunday's NFL action:

Ravens win in historic fashion: Less than a week after scoring a statement win in San Francisco, the Baltimore Ravens (13-2) cruised to another dominant victory, 56-19 over the Miami Dolphins (11-5). It set a new record for most points ever scored against a team with at least 11 wins. The previous record was 55, set by the San Francisco 49ers in Super Bowl XXIV over the Denver Broncos on Jan. 28, 1990 (Denver finished the regular season with 11 wins).

Panthers lay rare goose egg: It's been a brutal season for the Carolina Panthers, who plummeted to their lowest point with a 26-0 shutout loss at the Jacksonville Jaguars on Sunday. The loss marked the first time Carolina was shut out since Nov. 24, 2002, a 41-0 defeat to Atlanta.

Lowly Cards invade Eagles nest: The Arizona Cardinals' 35-31 win at the Philadelphia Eagles was a shock in-and-of itself – a 3-12 team going on the road and beating an 11-4 team. To add insult to injury, the Cardinals' 12 losses are the most of any team that has ever won a game in Philadelphia.

Pats cough it up in Buffalo: The New England Patriots came up short in a 27-21 loss to the Buffalo Bills thanks in large part to four offensive turnovers. The Patriots hadn't turned the ball over that many times in a division game since Sep. 25, 2011, in a 34-31 loss that also occurred in Buffalo.

Chicago has a Heinicke: The Chicago Bears held Atlanta Falcons quarterback Taylor Heinicke to just 10 completions on 29 pass attempts during a 37-17 Chicago win. The last time the Bears held an opposing quarterback to 10 or fewer completions on 29 or more attempts was Nov. 23, 1986. In that game, Green Bay QB Randy Wright also went 10-for-29 in a 12-10 Chicago win.

Tough-luck Adams ties dubious record: For the second time this season, Las Vegas Raiders wide receiver Davante Adams caught 13 passes in a defeat as Las Vegas lost at Indianapolis 23-20 Sunday. Adams also posted 13 receptions in a Week 3 loss to Pittsburgh. He's only the seventh receiver in NFL history to catch at least 13 passes in multiple losses during a season.
