Insider thinks Titans' Will Levis could get some in NFL fired

Tennessee Titans rookie quarterback Will Levis will receive a second opportunity to impress fans and critics when he starts at the 4-3 Pittsburgh Steelers on Thursday night.

It appears Levis already answered questions some previously had about his abilities in this past Sunday's 28-23 win over the Atlanta Falcons.

"Some in league circles already have seen enough," NFL insider Mike Florio of Pro Football Talk wrote about Levis on Thursday afternoon. "From pre-draft scouting to his performance against the Falcons, there’s a belief he’ll be good. And that he’ll potentially get some of those who passed on him in round one scrutinized if not fired."

Levis famously slid to the second round of the 2023 NFL Draft before the Titans grabbed him via overall selection No. 33. He made his first regular-season start against the Falcons in Week 8 and completed 19-of-29 pass attempts for 238 yards with four touchdowns and no interceptions.

The 24-year-old may or may not have fallen out of the draft's first round because of a supposed lingering left toe injury that allegedly "was 'problematic'" for at least one team. However, Florio reported on April 28 that an unnamed general manager said "that the toe excuse [was] 'bull----.'"

Florio added on Thursday that the Titans "supposedly" would have drafted Levis with overall choice No. 11 if offensive tackle Peter Skoronski hadn't been on the board at that time. Tennessee instead selected Skoronski and later traded with the Arizona Cardinals for the right to acquire Levis.

Levis is Tennessee's QB1 until further notice with veteran Ryan Tannehill sidelined due to an ankle injury. Tannehill, 35, is in the final year of his contract and could lose the job to Levis on a full-time basis depending on how the first-year pro performs at Pittsburgh's Acrisure Stadium.

As of Thursday afternoon, OddsChecker listed the 3-4 Titans as three-point underdogs against the Steelers.
