The Dallas Cowboys report to training camp in Oxnard, Calif., on Monday. Will EDGE Micah Parsons show?
Parsons, 26, is set to play on the fifth-year option of his rookie deal this upcoming season. The Cowboys and the pass-rusher have made progress in contract negotiations, but it remains unclear when they'll reach an agreement.
Cowboys wide receiver CeeDee Lamb held out of training camp last offseason before signing a four-year, $136M extension. Parsons could do the same, but it appears that isn't his plan. He will attend training camp, via NFL insider Jordan Schultz.

Parsons wants to avoid fines. Players on rookie contracts face a $40K per day fine for unexcused absences. He could still not participate in drills at training camp to protect himself from injury.
Parsons has remained confident the Cowboys will give him an extension but has said ownership has been dragging its feet throughout contract negotiations.
"We obviously wanted to get done early," he said in a Thursday clip of the "Six Feet Under" podcast (h/t ESPN's Field Yates). "We want that relief off our backs. But, obviously, ownership is always gonna make it drag out and make it more complicated than it has to be. Lack of communication and that standpoint, but you know, I just always say, God has me this far, he ain't done with me yet, so, you know, I just keep working, keep going, and then when it comes, I'm gonna be ready. But, you know, ain't gonna be no drop-off."

Prolonging negotiations with Parsons has likely cost the Cowboys more money. Pittsburgh Steelers EDGE T.J. Watt signed a three-year, $123M extension on Thursday, the largest non-quarterback contract in NFL history. The Dallas star could command a similar deal.
Parsons has earned two first-team All-Pro nods and logged 52.5 sacks since being taken No. 12 by the Cowboys in the 2021 NFL Draft.
The Cowboys should show Parsons the money. He's been a good sport about the contract situation, and they clearly need him after a 7-10 2024 season.
