Is Jets Coach Aaron Glenn Playing With Fire In Preseason?

New York Jets head coach Aaron Glenn, one could say, hasn't put a foot wrong since becoming the new head coach, with the preseason going along rather smoothly.

But now that preseason games are upon us - it's Jets vs. Packers tonight - has Glenn made the first "mistake" of his tenue?

For most teams, the preseason is an opportunity for younger players and those on the roster bubble to secure significant playing time and demonstrate their worth in the hopes of making the final roster.

That means the key starters often sit to avoid any unnecessary injuries.

But Glenn's starters are playing.

"We're playing," Glenn said. "We're playing. I can't tell you how much, guys are going to play. That's going to factor in on how the game goes. But, we're playing because I want to play. That's the reason."

One can only imagine the blowback if a key starter goes down injured, but at the same time, we can understand Glenn's desire for his team to get some proper football under their belt.

Is the juice worth the squeeze? We aren't quite sure, but even Kansas City Chiefs head coach Andy Reid is putting Patrick Mahomes in for a couple of series in their preseason game, so maybe things are shifting.

Still, if there is one team that can't afford any injuries to key players, it is the Jets, and we imagine that the coaching staff will be keeping a close eye on the starters.

Glenn has been nearly flawless since becoming head coach, and we hope playing his starters doesn't end poorly.
