It's not even training camp but one Eagles rookie is already on thin ice

Even before the Philadelphia Eagles open up their training camp, fans have enjoyed chatting over which position groups are going to see some of the more intriguing battles.

Although Philly's wide receiver room is extremely top-heavy, the bottom half of the depth chart could be anyone's game. Between a couple of recent draft picks and a couple of free agent signings, the final one or two spots might be up for grabs. However, one name might have an extraordinarily hard time working his way into that position: undrafted free agent Giles Jackson.

Now, this might seem like a logical choice for somebody who doesn't necessarily have a shot to make the roster. But, truly, when looking at guys like Johnny Wilson, Ainias Smith, Terrace Marshall and Danny Gray, you could make a case for just about anyone to earn one of those final spots.

Even Jackson has a case to be made.

Giles Jackson will have to be special in one area to have any chance at making the Eagles' roster in training camp

Coming out of Washington this year, Jackson prided himself on being a shifty, slippery and exciting playmaker with the ball in his hands. The biggest issue for him, though, is that he comes in standing just 5-foot-8, weighing about 185 pounds.

The speed is there. The raw ability is there. But, in order to make it onto this roster, Jackson might have to become a standout on special teams.

Right now, we're likely to see a mix of some guys like Will Shipley, Avery Williams and Cooper DeJean, among others, tried out as return specialists.

Should Jackson get his chances to return punts or kicks, he will need to take advantage of the reps. AJ Brown, DeVonta Smith and Jahan Dotson are no-brainers at the top, and you'd think the Eagles would like to hang onto recent draft picks like Wilson and Smith.

Maybe, just maybe, Jackson can emerge as a special teams must-have. He'll have to make it undeniable, though, as he is buried on the depth chart right now.
