Last year, when the Philadelphia Eagles traded for wide receiver Jahan Dotson, there were mixed feelings on the move across this fan base.
On one hand, there was an argument to be had where it looked like Howie Roseman had pulled off the ultimate fleece. Fast forward, though, and it hasn't yet paid off.
But, Jimmy Kempski of The Philly Voice had this to say about Dotson at Eagles OTAs recently, and it could change the tune completely:
"I was watching him during a drill in which the receivers were making one-handed catches, and he was nonchalantly hauling in everything, while it was harder for the other receivers. If he can at least show that he will catch everything that he should catch, perhaps he could could gain more trust from Jalen Hurts this season.”
Let's be honest. The Eagles are coming off a Super Bowl win, so they've got a target on their back. But, this isn't a team that looks like it will take a step back anytime soon.
If we're talking about the possibility of this offense getting a legitimate WR3 alongside AJ Brown and DeVonta Smith, that could spell even more trouble for the rest of the NFC. Coming into the league, Dotson was a crafty, quick weapon with the ball in his hands.
Dotson's ability to stop and accelerate at the drop of a hat is one thing that made him so lethal coming into the league. His sudden movements and knack for working every area of the field at Penn State made him a tantalizing prospect.
The Eagles may have declined Dotson's fifth-year option, but that only adds more fuel to the fire for his 2025 campaign.
Still only 25 years old and now in a great spot to thrive and further develop, it looks like Dotson is ready to flourish. He's not going to have much pressure on him as the third guy in line on the depth chart, but if he can make the most of limited opportunities, it's going to build the legend of Howie Roseman even more.
