Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes turned to an unusual place for help this offseason. The three-time Super Bowl champion is looking to up his game following the Chiefs’ 40-22 loss to the Philadelphia Eagles in February’s Super Bowl.

During an interview posted Monday with Kay Adams on Up & Adams, Mahomes admitted that he has had several discussions with Las Vegas Raiders minority owner Tom Brady. Mahomes said Brady gave him advice, which the two-time NFL MVP is glad to take.

“And having Tom, a guy like that, say that, just motivates me even more,” Mahomes said of Brady’s comments praising his play in the league. “I’ve actually talked to Tom a good amount this offseason, and it’s cool that he wants to give me advice. He doesn’t have to be like that. He’s such a good dude. And I have so much respect for him, and I’ll take any advice he gives.”

Patrick Mahomes is keeping Tom Brady’s message a secret

When pressed for what advice Brady gave, Mahomes said that he had to keep some of the conversation secret.

“I’ve got to keep the secrets, you know?” Mahomes said. “But he always talks about being yourself. He thinks that, which I truly believe, too,  is that guys can spot when you’re not authentic, and you’re not putting in the work. That’s something that he did every single day. That’s why guys respected him so much.

“And that’s all I’m going to do for the rest of my career, and I feel like I’ve done so far, is I’m always myself–no matter if you like me or don’t like me. I’m giving everything I can to win football games.”

Are the Las Vegas Raiders recruiting a Kansas City Chiefs QB?

Tom Brady walks the red carpet on Sunday, May 25, 2025, ahead of the 109th running of the Indianapolis 500 at Indianapolis Motor Speedway.

Mahomes one his first two Super Bowls when Brady was still in the league. Brady got the best of Mahomes in Super Bowl LV and the 2018 AFC Championship. Because of Mahomes’ early dominance in the league, he has been compared to Brady.

Clearly, Brady thinks Mahomes has a chance to catch him as a GOAT.

Mahomes admitted that he does think about his legacy every day and is thankful the Chiefs have surrounded him with amazing weapons. However, one has to wonder if Mahomes will stay with Kansas City throughout the entirety of his career.

Elite quarterbacks like Peyton Manning, Aaron Rodgers, and GOAT quarterbacks like Brady and Joe Montana played for other teams later in their careers.

One has to wonder if Brady is trying to build a relationship with Mahomes so he can recruit a rival’s legendary quarterback for a championship run with the Raiders once Andy Reid and Travis Kelce decide to retire.
