Making an impact on the Cincinnati Bengals‘ offense that features Joe Burrow, Ja’Marr Chase, Tee Higgins, Chase Brown, Mike Gesicki, and other notable names is never going to be easy. This would typically be especially true for a seventh-round rookie.

Yet, Jack Endries is changing that notion and has already started to look like a game-changing player rather than a rookie trying to find his way in the NFL.

With how Endries has played in training camp and even the Bengals’ first preseason game against the Detroit Lions, he is forcing Cincinnati to reconsider any plans they had originally with the tight ends they were thinking about keeping on the roster.

Jack Endries is Showing He Can be the Bengals’ Tight End of the Future

During the game against the Detroit Lions, Endries ended up hauling in all three of his targets for 25 yards and the Bengals’ only offensive touchdown.

Throughout the game and the entire training camp period, Endries has shown the athleticism that led to him being a productive tight end at the college level. With his movement ability to create yards after the catch in addition to creating underneath, Endries has the ability to make an impact in various ways.

The part for Endries that truly stands out and will give him the case for a roster spot is his blocking ability. Endries showed his willingness and effectiveness in the game by having clean pass-protection snaps.

The biggest thing for Endries will be to try to move up in a crowded tight end room that currently features Mike Gesicki, Drew Sample, Erick All Jr., and Tanner Hudson. It seems unlikely that Cincinnati would carry five tight ends, but with Endries’ versatility to be a receiver and blocker, he would bring both skills at once to the field to make the offense less predictable.

This is something they don’t have truly with any other tight end other than All Jr, but he is working back from suffering a torn ACL last season. With Endries, his ability to make an impact everywhere is what will force the Bengals to reconsider how they are going to construct their tight end room, as there is no way possible right now they can risk letting Endries go and trying to hold him on the practice squad.
