The Jacksonville Jaguars, along with 19 other teams like the reigning back-to-back Super Bowl champions and the Kansas City Chiefs, are starting a crucial phase of their preparation for the 2024 season. Starting on Monday, May 20, they will embark on Phase II of their offseason workout program. This phase, known as Organized Team Activities (OTAs), symbolizes the final stage of our collective efforts toward success.
Teams are allowed ten total OTA practice sessions, which the Jaguars separate into three different groups. OTAs include on-field workouts with individual and group components, including walkthroughs, but no live contact is permitted during these workouts. However, 7-on-7, 9-on-7, and 11-on-11 drills are permitted during OTAs. No pads except protective knee and elbow pads, as well as helmets, are permitted.
Here's the schedule for the upcoming OTA workouts:
While OTAs are voluntary and not every player will attend every practice session, Phase III also includes the first mandatory component of the offseason. Article 22 of the Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA) allows teams to hold one mandatory minicamp for both rookies and veterans during Phase III of the offseason workout program.
The Jaguars will likely use this time to install some of their new defense under new defensive coordinator Ryan Nielsen.
