Jaguars-Bills Weather Forecast: What Conditions to Expect

Playoff football often brings questions about how much the weather will matter, especially in January. Cold fingers, slick fields, swirling wind or snow can completely change how a game is played. That will not be the story on Sunday in Jacksonville.

As the Jacksonville Jaguars get ready to host the Buffalo Bills at EverBank Stadium, the forecast points toward a calm and comfortable afternoon. Jacksonville enters the wild-card round as the AFC’s third seed at (13-4), riding an eight-game winning streak, while Buffalo arrives at (12-5) as the sixth seed.

With kickoff set for 1 p.m. ET on CBS, the weather should stay out of the way, allowing this rematch to be decided by execution, adjustments and nerves rather than the elements.

Game Setup For Sunday

The wild-card matchup will be played Sunday afternoon at EverBank Stadium in Jacksonville. A 1 p.m. ET kickoff means daylight, steady conditions and a full crowd from start to finish. Unlike night games later in the postseason, temperatures should remain comfortable throughout the game.

Weather Conditions at Kickoff

According to Weather.com, conditions in Jacksonville should be favorable when the game kicks off. Temperatures are expected to sit in the low to mid 60s with mostly cloudy skies. Rain is not expected to be an issue, with little to no chance of precipitation during the game window.

Winds are forecast out of the northwest at around 10 to 15 mph. That breeze may be noticeable at times, but it is not expected to disrupt passing, kicking or play-calling in a meaningful way.

What the Forecast Means on the Field

This is about as clean a weather setup as teams can hope for in the playoffs. Quarterbacks should be comfortable throwing the ball, their footing should be solid, and offenses can stick to their normal plans. There should be no need to shorten the passing game or adjust protections because of the weather.

Special teams could feel the breeze on longer kicks, but overall conditions point toward a smooth, fast-paced afternoon.

Weather Won’t Decide This One

With the forecast staying quiet, Sunday’s Jaguars-Bills matchup will be decided by football, not the elements. Jacksonville’s momentum, Buffalo’s experience and how each team adjusts from their first meeting will take center stage.

For fans inside EverBank Stadium and those watching at home, the weather looks ready to cooperate, setting the stage for one of the AFC’s most intriguing wild-card games.
