The Jacksonville Jaguars are already out of contention for an NFL playoff spot in the AFC. But the hits keep on coming for the AFC South division team, which announced a piece of unfortunate news about the latest status of tight end Evan Engram.
According to Jags head coach Doug Pederson, the 30-year-old Engram is done for the remainder of the season due to a shoulder injury.
"Jaguars TE Evan Engram is done for the year with a torn labrum, HC Doug Pederson said. Will have surgery," shared ESPN Jaguars reporter Michael DiRocco on Friday morning.
The two-time Pro Bowler sustained the injury during Week 14's 10-6 win over the Tennessee Titans at Nissan Stadium in Nashville, where Engram recorded 33 receiving yards on four catches and six targets.
Engram's injury adds to the health issues of the 3-10 Jaguars' offense, which already have the likes of quarterback Trevor Lawrence and wide receivers Christian Kirk, David White Jr. and Gabe Davis on injured reserve.
Engram's fourth season with the Jaguars ends with 47 receptions for 365 yards and one touchdown.
Engram, taken in the first round of the 2017 NFL draft by the New York Giants, signed a three-year, $41.25 million contract extension with the Jaguars in 2023 but also has a potential out at the end of the 2024 campaign.
Jacksonville's rough season continues with a home game against the New York Jets at 1 p.m. ET Sunday.
