The Jaguars and long snapper Ross Matiscik have agreed to a two-year contract extension worth $3.8MM in new money, Ian Rapoport and Mike Garafolo of NFL Network report. The 29-year-old is now the NFL’s highest-paid player at his position.
This is the second Jaguars extension for Matiscik, who joined the team in 2020 as an undrafted free agent from Baylor. In the spring of 2022, two seasons into his career, he inked a five-year, $5.965MM pact. Matiscik has more than justified the payday over the past three seasons. He made the Pro Bowl for the third straight year in 2025 and garnered first-team All-Pro honors for the second time. He also has a 2024 second-team selection on his resume. Adding to his value, the 29-year-old has never missed a game, having played in 101 straight over six seasons.
With Matiscik’s help, big-legged kicker Cam Little and punter Logan Cooke have excelled. Little has nailed 98.7 of extra points and 90.5 percent of field goal attempts during his two-year career. Cooke earned Pro Bowl and second-team All-Pro accolades in 2024, and he finished last year eighth in the league in net yardage.
Matiscik had been on track to reach free agency next offseason. With his new deal in place, the Jaguars now have all three members of their special teams battery locked up through at least 2027.
