Jaguars undrafted free agent made some impressive plays at OTAs to start his case for a roster spot

The Jacksonville Jaguars have strategically bolstered their roster this offseason, prioritizing the task of providing Trevor Lawrence with a formidable arsenal. They've made significant strides in this direction by securing the services of Gabe Davis, a former Buffalo Bills player, and the dynamic Devin Duvernay, who previously played for the Baltimore Ravens. Duvernay's impressive performance at OTAs, which commenced on Monday, is a testament to his potential to enhance the team's gameplay.

But then they drafted Brian Thomas Jr. while also bringing in six receiving weapons as undrafted free agents. One of those UDFA guys is already starting to try to make his case for a roster spot: Brevin Easton. After the draft, he signed a three-year deal with the Jaguars but does not have a guaranteed 53-man roster spot. He has to compete for a roster spot while going through OTAs and training camp.

But fighting for a spot is nothing new to Easton.

"I wasn't really recruited out of high school," said Easton. "I've been cut from teams. I've had to earn positions. So, like, this is my territory. This is what I've always had to do, and I don't expect that to change now that I'm in the NFL.

"I really just keep the same mentality, have my work hat on and my lunch pail and I just get after it and take advantage of everything that comes my way. Although there is going to be adversity, there might be bad days, it might not go my way every single time, I still got to keep fighting and never quit. That's what has allowed me to get to this point."

The Jaguars put out a video of all of the highlights from OTAs, which were compiled into one video. And, in that video, you can see Easton making a terrific catch. Some may not realize who he is because you may not recognize the UDFAs in their new uniforms, but Easton wears No. 80 as he skied high for a grab in the end zone.

Easton's journey to the NFL is a testament to his talent and determination. Last season, he demonstrated his prowess by accumulating an impressive 1,086 yards and 13 touchdowns on 57 catches for the Albany Great Danes. His standout performance in the FCS quarterfinals, where he recorded nine catches for 228 yards and three touchdowns, led the University of Albany to a victory over Idaho and their first-ever FCS semifinal appearance.
