Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts' love for football comes naturally thanks to his parents, Averion and Pamela Hurts. Jalen's dad Averion is a longtime high school football coach. The Eagles star's mom Pamela is an educator.
"Pamela also pursued a career in education and has worked in the field for many years," People's Skyler Caruso wrote on Feb. 9, 2023. "With a bachelor's degree in business administration and a master's degree in counseling, she worked for the Channelview District in Texas like her husband."
Jalen's family roots created a firm foundation for the star's journey from being a standout college football player for the Oklahoma Sooners and Alabama Crimson Tide to playing in the NFL. The quarterback was coached by his father early in his career at Channelview High School in Texas.
Jalen's dad was candid about how the quarterback having a strong family helped the star in his football journey. The longtime coach also added that Jalen has a "burning desire" for greatness.

My rare, in-person interview with Eagles QB Jalen Hurts’ Dad, Averion Hurts, just 2 days before Super Bowl 57. We met up at the @turkeyleghut pop up in Tempe, one of his fav Black-owned bizs from back home in Houston. pic.twitter.com/f2ecX8qN5x
"It's not a hard luck story," Averion told NFL Network's "Good Morning Football." "I've been a coach for a long time. He didn't come from just humble beginnings, let's say.
"So, it's just really a story of a kid that fell in love with football, and he wanted to do the best he could with it. And he has a burning desire to be the best that he can be, and he's not afraid to work for it."
