Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts is about to have some of the best quarterback matchups in the 2025 season that all fans will be watching—a chance for the Super Bowl MVP to prove his worth.

Throughout the offseason, many in the media have questioned whether Hurts should be included in the conversation with elite quarterbacks like Patrick Mahomes, Josh Allen, and Lamar Jackson. Ironically, Hurts has beaten all three of those quarterbacks and has only lost to Mahomes.

The topic has not gone away, though, and Hurts will have his chance to take down two of them in the 2025 season that could settle the conversation.

Hurts' top quarterback matchups in 2025

Bleacher Report writer Brad Gagnon shared the top 12 quarterback matchups of the 2025 season. Two of Hurts' games came up, with the first being his Week 17 showdown against Allen and the Buffalo Bills, which ranked ninth. Gagnon shared what he thought was cool about the game and his prediction.

"The reigning Super Bowl MVP goes up against the reigning NFL MVP in a battle between two of the most dynamic and skilled players in the sport. It’s also potentially a Super Bowl preview.

Let’s just hope this game matters to both quarterbacks and teams, because that’s a risk this late in the season. If it does, I’m siding with Allen and the Bills simply due to that Orchard Park edge in December."

The last time Hurts and Allen played was in 2023, when the Eagles secured a 37-34 win in overtime at home against Buffalo. Each quarterback combined for nine total touchdowns, but Hurts' fifth was the one that sealed the game with a game-winning rushing touchdown in overtime.

Ranking fourth on Gagnon's QB matchups was Hurts and Mahomes in the Super Bowl rematch everyone is excited to see in Week 2. This time, Gagnon likes the Eagles to take this game over Kansas City.

"They’ve met in two of the last three Super Bowls, with each winning MVP once. And it goes without saying that they’re two of the most uniquely skilled players in the sport. This could be a tremendous early-season tone-setter for both.

Both quarterbacks have played very well against each other’s team, and the less talented Chiefs have home field, so this is close to a toss-up. I kinda think K.C. will have some wake-up call moments this year, so let’s roll with Hurts and the Eagles in this spot."

Mahomes and Hurts are even in the series as Mahomes won the first two matchups, but Hurts has taken the last two. Hurts has thrown for 1,062 yards and five touchdowns to two interceptions in four career games against Kansas City. He's also rushed for 218 yards and six touchdowns during that span.

These will be two of the biggest games of the season for the Eagles, as they are potentially Super Bowl previews. If Hurts can pull one over Mahomes and Allen, it might quieten the criticisms he faces for not being "elite".
