Former All-Pro safety Jamal Adams will try to resurrect his NFL career by reuniting with his former head coach.
Adams is signing with the Las Vegas Raiders, according to NFL reporter Jordan Schultz. The move reunites him with coach Pete Carroll, who was his coach with the Seattle Seahawks from 2020 to 2023.
Adams was one of the game’s brightest young stars, first with the New York Jets and then with the Seahawks. Injuries stunted his progress, and he spent last year trying and failing to lock down a job with the Tennessee Titans and Detroit Lions.
Though he is a three-time Pro Bowl selection, Adams has not actually been a regular starter since the 2021 season. Injuries, including concussions, have been a big issue and a major source of frustration for him at times. He played nine games for Seattle in 2023, but was not nearly as effective as he had been in the past.
The Raiders do not necessarily have an opening at safety, so Adams will have to play his way onto the field. Carroll has shown in the past that he knows how to use the safety, but the 29-year-old still faces an uphill climb when it comes to re-establishing himself.
