Ja’Marr Chase Suffers Knee Injury Scare at Bengals Practice

The Cincinnati Bengals received a major scare Tuesday when star wide receiver Ja’Marr Chase went down with an apparent knee injury during practice. However, what initially looked like a potentially serious setback quickly became a much more encouraging situation for Cincinnati.

Chase was injured while attempting to make a catch from quarterback Joe Burrow. After landing awkwardly, the All Pro receiver immediately grabbed his left knee and remained on the ground briefly while trainers attended to him. Chase was then able to walk off the field under his own power and did not return to practice.

Following the session, Chase provided the update Bengals fans were hoping to hear. He described the injury as a minor knee “hyperextension” and said that he felt fine. Chase even indicated that if Cincinnati had a game the following day, he believed he would be able to play.

The positive update is especially important for the Bengals, who rely heavily on Chase as the centerpiece of their passing attack. His connection with Burrow has been one of the NFL’s most productive quarterback-receiver combinations since Chase entered the league in 2021.

Chase is coming off another outstanding season in 2025. He led the NFL with 185 targets while recording 125 receptions for 1,412 yards and eight touchdowns. His performance earned him another first-team All-Pro selection and his fifth Pro Bowl appearance.

While Chase’s comments should provide some relief, the Bengals will likely remain cautious with their star receiver. With the regular season approaching, there is little reason for Cincinnati to risk aggravating what appears to be a minor injury during training camp.

For now, the Bengals appear to have avoided a potentially devastating blow. Chase’s ability to walk off the field and his reassuring comments afterward suggest Cincinnati can breathe a sigh of relief, though his status will remain something to monitor as the team prepares for the regular season.
