James Pearce Jr. could have all charges dismissed

Some massive news coming out of Flowery Branch this morning, as James Pearce Jr. — who was arrested for aggravated battery, aggravated stalking, resisting arrest, and several other charges — could see all of them dismissed if he completes a program offered by the state of Florida, according to Andy Slater of Fox Sports South Florida.

Per the report, Pearce will be required to attend therapy sessions and remain out of trouble over a six-month period. The victim in the case, Rickea Jackson, along with her attorney, agreed to the resolution.

It’s about as favorable of an outcome as the Falcons could have hoped for, giving James Pearce Jr. a clear path to avoid jail time and move past the situation — assuming he follows through with the program. But the NFL will still have a say in how this plays out.

Given the details of the case and the existence of video evidence, it’s hard to imagine Pearce avoids discipline altogether. That said, the league hasn’t exactly been overly harsh in similar situations in the past, regardless of how serious things may look in a police report.

Something in the 4–10 game range feels like a realistic outcome, which would leave the door open for Pearce to see the field at some point this season.

On the field, his impact as a rookie was undeniable. He broke the rookie franchise record for sacks in a season and became the first rookie to reach double digit sacks since Micah Parsons in 2021.

It’s significant news for both Pearce and the Falcons. But more than anything, the priority now has to be making sure he gets the help he needs so this doesn’t happen again. He’s fortunate this situation didn’t turn out far worse.
