The Detroit Lions are looking to bounce back after a difficult start to the 2026 season, and Jameson Williams knows he has a role to play in getting the offense back on track.
The wide receiver addressed his recent drop issues this week, acknowledging that better focus and technique are necessary. His comments come after Detroit’s 32-26 loss to the Carolina Panthers, a game in which Williams produced big numbers but also faced questions about his consistency.
With the Lions preparing to face the Arizona Cardinals in Week 5, Williams is focused on correcting those mistakes.

“Just catching the ball, bringing it in. It’s nothing major. It’s just drops. I just gotta catch the ball. That’s the main thing,” he said.

“It’s been an emphasis this week,” Williams said, according to WXYZ Detroit’s Brad Galli. “Working with hands, catching the ball. It’s really focus. Looking the ball all the way into the tuck, and that’s something I gotta get right.”
Williams also acknowledged that his coaches have addressed the issue and that he has challenged himself to improve. He added that he needs to fix the problem for the offense.
The comments show Williams understands the importance of turning his athletic ability into consistent production. His speed can stretch defenses and create opportunities for quarterback Jared Goff, but missed catches can waste promising plays and stall drives.
Williams finished the loss to Carolina with six receptions for 102 yards, according to the supplied game notes. That production highlights the threat he presents when he connects with Goff, even as the Lions work to eliminate costly mistakes.
Detroit enters Week 5 at 2-2 and needs a response after dropping its previous game. Williams’ ability to secure catches will be important as the offense looks to regain momentum against Arizona.
The receiver has publicly accepted responsibility, but the next step is delivering on the field. If Williams can pair his explosive speed with more reliable hands, he could help the Lions turn a frustrating defeat into a valuable learning experience.
