Detroit Lions quarterback Jared Goff's NFL career has been as much of a rollercoaster as his Top 100 ranking.

After being the golden boy of the NFC West, Goff was jettisoned to Detroit when the franchise was at one of its lowest points. Fast forward about 5 years later, and Goff has reinvented not only himself but the Lions franchise as a whole.

With a head coach that genuinely believes in his talent, the former 1st overall pick has revitalized a city and franchise with his peers, as they've ranked him as the 15th best player going into the 2025 NFL season. Goff, for context, was 48th on the same list before the Lions' 15-2 2024 season.

Goff led the Lions to the NFL Divisional Round in 2024 on his way to also earning his 4th career Pro Bowl appearance. He also set a career high in passing touchdowns. The 31-year-old signal caller has exceeded expectations since his arrival to the Motor City, leading the Lions to the playoffs twice while owning a 39-25-1 record since starting for Detroit in 2021.

Goff's rise to being one of the league's top passers has surprised not only fans and critic, but also his NFL peers. Since 2018, Goff debuted at 38, elevating to 32 in 2019, before spending 2020 to 2022 unrecognized on the NFL's Top 100. Goff returned to the Top 100 in 2023 with a no. 66 ranking, improving to no. 48 in 2024, and now sits at no. 15.

"There’s still the Super Bowl hump to get over and the loss of former OC Ben Johnson to consider going into this season, but the evidence indicates Goff remains an elite QB even as he gets ready to hit a decade in the NFL," wrote Coral Smith, the digital producer of the Top 100 list.

Since 2022, Goff has established himself in many statistical categories as a top 5 quarterback with a minimum of 30 starts. He's ranked third in passer rating (102.7), fourth in yards per attempt (7.9), fourth in completion percentage (68.1), first in passing touchdowns (96), and tied for fourth in game-winning drives (10).

Goff is the sixth Lions player to find a spot on the NFL Top 100 list this season. He joins, Amon-Ra St. Brown (20th), Jahmyr Gibbs (27th), Aidan Hutchinson (55th), Kerby Joseph (71st), and Sam LaPorta (94th).
