The Detroit Lions will face off against the Washington Commanders in the divisional round of the playoffs this weekend.
The Lions got a first-round bye after going 15-2 and winning the NFC North during the regular season while the Commanders got their first playoff win since the 2005 season this past Sunday against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
Commanders quarterback Jayden Daniels has been a major reason for the Commanders' turnaround and Lions quarterback Jared Goff has all the respect in the world for him.
“Yeah, it’s extremely impressive, very impressive for anyone that young to do what he’s doing,” Goff said, via ProFootballTalk. ”It doesn’t look like he is a rookie. It doesn’t look like he feels like a rookie. It feels like he understands the moment and is comfortable in it and our job on defense is to try to make him uncomfortable."
Daniels has that "it" factor and has been fantastic this season, finishing last Sunday's game with 268 passing yards, two touchdowns, and no interceptions. He finished the regular season with 3,568 yards through the air, 25 touchdowns, and only nine interceptions
The Commanders will be a tough out for the Lions, especially if Daniels continues to have such poise in the pocket. Even though he's only been in the NFL for a year, he looks like a seasoned veteran with the way he plays in the pocket.
He'll be tasked with going up against one of the NFL's best defenses. Defensive coordinator Aaron Glenn has done a great job with that unit and will have a plan of attack against him.
Kickoff for Saturday's Commanders-Lions game will be at 8 p.m. ET on FOX. Kevin Burkhardt and Tom Brady will have the call.
