Jarrett Stidham may have secured Broncos' backup QB job

With Bo Nix resting and entrenched as the face of the Denver Broncos' franchise, Jarrett Stidham got the start against the Atlanta Falcons on Friday night. 

Stidham, 30, performed admirably enough, further to make his case for locking up the backup job and even providing some comfort if Nix were to go down, just as he did ahead of the AFC Championship Game in January. 

All signs point to Jarrett Stidham as the Broncos' backup QB 

After Broncos head coach Sean Payton already told reporters that "there's no official battle" earlier in training camp, Stidham made sure to leave no doubt when under center in game action. 

He completed 9-of-15 passes for 131 yards with a touchdown pass and a 110.7 quarterback rating. The six-year veteran even ran for six yards. 

The Broncos, who won the game handily 27-7, turned to Sam Ehlinger at quarterback in relief of Stidham in Atlanta. However, the younger Ehlinger only threw for 67 yards despite only one fewer pass attempt than Stidham.
