It's been nearly two years since Philadelphia Eagles legend Jason Kelce decided to hang them up.
Now, his younger brother, Travis, is facing a similar situation.
With the Kansas City Chiefs eliminated from playoff contention and the younger Kelce brother already mulling retirement, he may not have many more games in the league.
However, there's no need to make any rash decisions. At least, that's how his older brother feels.
When asked about Travis' potential retirement, the future Hall of Fame center urged him to take it one game at a time right now.
"In my opinion, to nail that decision, you gotta step away from the game for a little bit," Kelce said, per Pete Grathoff of the Kansas City Star. "Play these last three games, enjoy 'em with your teammates, enjoy 'em with your coaches. The team is going to be different whether or not you come back next year. Then play these three games, and then let it sink in. It'll come to you with time."
Jason, who was also on the losing end of a big game before retiring, knows what his brother is going through, and he doesn't want his emotions to dictate his future.
"There are so many emotions with this game right after a season, especially with the way this one's been," Kelce added. "And right now, it's just too fresh. You gotta step away from it, you gotta think about it, and then it'll come to you."
Kelce's numbers haven't been bad this season, and he's clearly still one of the best tight ends in the game. Then again, given all he has going on outside of the game, and how frustrating this season has been for him, it wouldn't be crazy to think he might be done.
Kelce is a future first-ballot Hall of Famer and has nothing left to prove at this point in his career. If this is the end of the line, he should feel proud and be celebrated.
