The National Football League is officially back, and we have drama after just one game. In fact, the drama came right after the kickoff on Thursday night. Jalen Carter of the Philadelphia Eagles was ejected from the game after spitting at Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott.

Many have weighed in on the topic and are waiting to see if the Eagles' defensive star will receive additional disciplinary action. But as the night went on, more of the story came to light.

Prescott was shown starting the incident with a spit, not completely directed at Carter, but it seemed clear it was intended to stir the pot.

Jason Kelce, who spent his entire career with the Eagles, made sure to weigh in late Thursday night, talking about the drama. His response to a question on who spat first came in:

"And the truth shall set you free."

The Eagles eventually won the game 24-20. The Philadelphia defense struggled early, as Prescott and the Dallas offense "cooked," moving the ball up and down the field with ease. Many commented that the poor defense had a lot to do with not having Carter, a star defensive tackle.

Carter did talk to the media following the game and apologized for the incident. "It was a mistake that happened on my side, and it just won't happen again," Carter said. "I feel bad for my teammates and the fans out there. I'm doing it for them."

Carter has been with the Eagles since he was the ninth overall pick in the 2023 NFL Draft. He played his college football for the Georgia Bulldogs and won two national championships. He helped Philadelphia win the Super Bowl in his second season in the NFL.

The Eagles will look to remain unbeaten in Week 2 as they are on the road at the Kansas City Chiefs. Prescott and the Cowboys start their home season in Week 2 against the New York Giants.
