New York Giants rookie Jaxson Dart has been impressive in his early run as the team’s new QB1 after taking over for 10-time Pro Bowler Russell Wilson. In his first two starts, Dart completed 39-of-60 passes for 313 yards and one touchdown, while also rushing 19 times for 109 yards and a rushing TD.

On Thursday night, Dart made his third start for New York and his first on a primetime slot. The Giants hosted the defending Super Bowl champions, the Philadelphia Eagles, at MetLife Stadium in a marquee matchup. It was a big opportunity for the young QB to make even more noise with the spotlight shining brightly on him.

Dart is no stranger to the bright lights, and he confidently stepped up to the occasion. The former Ole Miss Rebels star went full Patrick Mahomes in his first drive, leading the Giants to a touchdown at the 9:59 mark of the first quarter. Per NFL+, Dart and Mahomes are the only two QBs since 1991 to lead their team to an opening-drive touchdown in each of their first three career starts.

Dart’s big night continued after his opening-drive touchdown. Later in the game, the Giants rookie made NFL history after rushing for over 50 yards against the Eagles. NFL+ took to social media to announce Dart’s historic feat.

Jaxson Dart joins Jalen Hurts and Lamar Jackson as the only QBs with 50+ rush yards in each of their first 3 career starts in the Super Bowl era ” NFL+ posted on X.

Dart, who suffered an injury scare in the third quarter, is now in elite company with his new rushing milestone. It is worth noting that he has joined Jalen Hurts in this three-man list. What makes this even more impressive is the fact that Dart not only matched Hurts in their primetime clash, but the rookie ended up outplaying the Super Bowl-winning QB in this one by leading the Giants to a 34-17 victory.

Dart finished the marquee win with 17-of-25 completed passes for 195 yards and one TD, while also rushing 13 times for 58 yards and a rushing touchdown. Hurts wasn't bad either, registering 24-of-33 completed passes for 283 yards, one TD and one interception. The Eagles QB also had seven carries for 13 yards and a rushing touchdown.

At the end of the day, however, it's Dart who takes the win over Hurts and the Eagles, who have now suffered back-to-back losses.

After Thursday's massive win, up next for the 3-2 Giants is a Week 6 matchup against the Denver Broncos on Oct. 19. New York gets a full nine days of rest before returning to action in a road game at Empower Field at Mile High.

Dart will want to keep the momentum going after his big performance against Philly. He’s now 2-1 to start his NFL career and has firmly established his grip on the QB1 role for the Giants.
