Jayden Daniels' Parents, Javon Daniels and Regina Jackson, React to Historic Season

Jayden Daniels' parents, Javon Daniels and Regina Jackson, ensured that the Washington Commanders quarterback was destined for greatness. As Jayden continues to lead the Commanders on a red-hot NFL playoff run, the quarterback's father reflected on helping the signal-caller maintain his signature poise.

One tip from Jayden's father during his childhood: avoid excessive celebrations until the game ends.

“If I allowed him to process his emotions that way, where they’re never discussed, and [he stays] in that type of funk … he doesn’t go on to learn to be stoic and be prepared for the moment," Javon told The Washington Post's Sam Fortier during a Jan. 16 interview.

The advice paid off as Jayden has emerged as one of the best NFL quarterbacks under pressure. As for Jayden's mom, Regina had some fun on social media after the star quarterback led the Commanders to an upset win versus the Detroit Lions in the divisional round.

"Face when your team wasn't supposed to Win and they did!" Regina said in a Tuesday Instagram post. "Don't count 5️⃣ out! ."

During a Dec. 17, 2024, interview with Kevin Durant and Travis Scott for Boardroom, Jayden praised his mom's unwavering support.

"Nothing gets past my mama," Jayden candidly explained. "That’s the biggest thing. She reads people and doesn’t put people around me that don’t benefit me. My mom’s support through this journey has been huge.

"For her to show up at every game whether it’s sunny, hot, rainy, or cold? She’ll throw on three or four coats and be cheering no matter what, making sure that I’m my best and taking as much off my plate as possible."

Jayden has already had a historic NFL season, but it remains to be seen just how much history will be made. ESPN's Bill Barnwell argues that Jayden has had one of the best rookie seasons of any NFL quarterback ever.

Jayden Daniels' 891 rushing yards is the most by any rookie quarterback in NFL history, breaking the record of another Washington QB, Robert Griffin III (815 yards in 2012). No rookie quarterback has ever made the Super Bowl as a starter, something Daniels is looking to change.
