For the first time in the 2024 season, the Washington Commanders have suffered back-to-back losses after succumbing 26-18 to the Philadelphia Eagles at Lincoln Financial Field.
In what was perhaps one of the Commanders' worst performances of the year and one that the scoreline flattered them, it was yet another learning opportunity for Dan Quinn's team - they've still got a long way to go.
With the loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers and now to the Eagles, Jayden Daniels laments the lack of offensive execution while lighting a fire underneath the locker room by challenging them to see how they deal with what's in front of them.
"We've got to execute," Daniels said. "We haven't been executing how we were before at the beginning half of the season. So, we've got to go back and, like I said, look at ourselves in the mirror. How can we get better? How can we keep improving? It's a long season, so there's going to be ups and downs, but how can we fight through adversity?"
The Commanders only had three third-down conversions against the Eagles, and Terry McLaurin didn't register his first reception until the fourth quarter, while Philadelphia piled on 20 unanswered points to flex their muscles over their NFC East rivals.
Head coach Dan Quinn stated that "adversity hit" his team against the Eagles, and now Daniels is looking to see how the locker room responds.
It is all good and well to talk a big game when things are going well, but when things aren't, you find out a lot about the locker room.
Much has been made of Quinn's impact on the roster, and now we are about to see exactly how this new-look Commanders team handles their first true poor period of the new regime.
