"Learning to surround myself with the right people off the court" was Houston Rockets forward Kevin Durant's most important lesson in his career. Something that Washington Commanders quarterback Jayden Daniels never had to worry about. The reason: his mom, Regina Jackson.

On Monday, the Washington Commanders face the Kansas City Chiefs in what has been a disappointing season so far. After a surprising playoff run to the NFC Championship Game last season, the Commanders are just 3-4 as the calendar nears November. In times when keeping the right mindset becomes critical, Daniels has nothing to worry about. He has his mom shielding him from people who don't benefit him.

In a cover story for Boardroom, Daniels reveals how his mom is his constant support to Durant and rapper Travis Scott.

"Nothing gets past my mama. That’s the biggest thing. She reads people and doesn’t put people around me that don’t benefit me," he revealed. "My mom’s support through this journey has been huge.

"For her to show up at every game whether it’s sunny, hot, rainy or cold? She’ll throw on three or four coats and be cheering no matter what, making sure that I’m my best and taking as much off my plate as possible."

Jackson, who is also Daniels' business manager, has openly accepted her involvement in her son's dating life.

In fact, "them girls" is her biggest fear in life, which she clarified when joining Ryan Clark and Fred Taylor for a Mother's Day episode of "The Pivot Point" podcast.

“The whole girls comment was made first of all two years [ago], when he was at LSU,” Jackson said. "It was a question [I was] asked, ‘What is your biggest fear?’ That should be every parents’ biggest fear… men and women… because you’re a public figure and your dollar amount is associated with your name. So, you never know who’s really there for you and who’s really against you."

Jackson has been very capable throughout managing Daniels and handling the business side of things. One look at her Instagram page and you get a clear picture of how supportive she is of her son.

"The thing is, he doesn’t know what he doesn’t know, and he knows football and he does it very well… but he doesn’t know the business world,” she said. “He doesn’t know the predators or the vultures that could be out there. So, he feels very comfortable in knowing that not only am I educated and qualified to do it, I’m also his mom.”
