Green Bay Packers wide receiver Christian Watson received great news on Tuesday when he landed a one-year, $13.25 million contract extension with the team. Watson has yet to see action on the field alongside his fellow wideouts like Jayden Reed and Romeo Doubs in the 2025 NFL regular season and will not be for the following weeks, as he remains on the physically unable to perform list, but his new contract means that he’ll still be with the team for at least one more campaign.
Injuries have been a constant issue for Watson since entering the NFL as a second-round pick by Green Bay in the 2022 NFL draft. The former North Dakota state star wideout played in only 14 games in his rookie season, nine games in 2023 and 15 in 2024. He suffered a brutal ACL tear in the Packers’ 2024 NFL regular season versus the Chicago Bears.
Many Packers fans have received the news on Watson well. Even Reed seems pumped up about it.
In an Instagram Story post on Wednesday, Reed reshared the news of Watson’s extension deal and captioned it with “Yeaaa 9!!!” along with a couple of fire emojis.
Meanwhile, Reed and the rest of the healthy Packers are preparing for a Thursday Night Football showdown at Lambeau Field in Week 2 against the visiting Washington Commanders. Reed had 45 receiving yards and a touchdown on three catches and five targets in Green Bay’s 27-13 win over the Detroit Lions at home.
